Features
It presents as uniform brownish-red sandy fine particles with a small amount of black impurities and floating dust, featuring a specific gravity of about 4.02g/cm³, Mohs hardness of 7.5-7.9 and melting point of 1180°C.
It has core characteristics of high hardness, high wear resistance, high toughness and strong chemical stability, with higher hardness than quartz sand, maintaining sharpness for a long time in grinding and polishing, resisting acid and alkali corrosion, not easy to break under impact, and it is free of free silica, non-toxic and harmless with low dust generation rate, complying with environmental protection requirements and being friendly to the health of operators.
Specifications
The product is divided into three specifications according to particle size: 6-60 mesh (0.25-1.5mm) coarse sand, 60-100 mesh (0.15-0.25mm) medium sand and 100-220 mesh (0.07-0.15mm) fine sand.
Coarse sand with strong impact force is suitable for metal derusting and rough processing of large equipment surfaces; medium sand with uniform particles is applicable for glass carving and fine surface treatment of metals; fine sand with delicate texture is mainly used for high-precision polishing of precision instruments and optical components.
Application
Relying on excellent performance, garnet sand is widely used in sandblasting derusting, water jet cutting, filter medium, wear-resistant materials and other fields.
For sandblasting derusting, it can remove rust, scale and coatings on metal surfaces such as steel structures, ship hulls and bridges, making the surface roughness uniform and enhancing coating adhesion; for water jet cutting, it can accurately cut metals, stone, glass, ceramics and other materials with high precision, smooth edges and no heat-affected zone; as a filter medium, it can replace quartz sand in filtration systems of water treatment, chemical industry, petroleum, pharmaceutical and other industries with strong pollutant interception capacity and long service life; adding it to highway pavements, airport runways, wear-resistant rubber and anti-skid paint can also greatly improve wear and skid resistance
